I enrolled in online classes at University of Phoenix. At first I was told it would take me one year, would cost approximately $5000.00 and that I would receive financial aid for almost all of it. I was also told the classes were flexible. I took and completed 2 courses and then found that not all classes are flexible. Some of the professors were putting certain times that you HAD to be online. I was unable to do that, do to my job, so I quit taking classes, dropped out, so to speak. Now for the past 5 years I have been fighting with University of Phoenix and EdFund who are saying I owe over $7000.00 for student loans which I did not apply for, much less accept. I took 2 classes which I was told were paid for by financial aid and that is all and now after months of calling and writing, providing signatures from 5 years ago to present, transcripts from University of Phoenix, and anything else they have asked, they have taken my tax refund. The customer service people continually yelled at me and said it was my fault for going into default. How can I default on a loan I never took out for classes I never took? I am seeking legal counsel, but if anyone has been through this and has any advise, please email my home email at (private) Thanks |
